Darin Hoekema

Partner / AIA

A native of Manhattan, Montana, Darin has a deep appreciation for the rural communities, relationships and rustic traditions unique to Montana and the Rocky Mountain West. He earned a Bachelor of Environmental Design and a Master of Architecture from Montana State University in 2000, quickly finding a perfect fit at Locati Architects thereafter.

From the grandest concepts to the finest details, Darin’s design and management skills exemplify the high standards that are hallmarks of Locati Architects. Throughout each project, he is dedicated to maintaining constant communication between the client, architect and builder, all working together with a shared goal of “creating beautiful spaces and enjoying each step of the process.”

Finding a simple solution to a complex problem is at the heart of good design. There is great satisfaction in translating a thought onto paper that weaves multiple ideas into one cohesive and beautiful expression.”

For Darin, the Montana landscape and the people drawn to it provide limitless opportunities for designing exceptional spaces, inspiring a distinctive architectural style. He is motivated by faith, family and the pursuit of joy in all circumstances. Outside of work, Darin enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He, along with his wife Stephanie and their two children—Kyanna and Isaac—can often be found at the lake, in the mountains or simply enjoying a beautiful summer evening in their own little slice of paradise.
